just.donyale is all about me and my creations.
For as long as I can remember I have always created things.
In the past two decades this has translated to really immersing myself in Textiles. I taught myself to knit….then to dye my own yarn. I then thought it would be interesting to spin my own yarns and from there I taught myself to weave.
Through the world of textiles I held market stalls at Bowral Steiner School, Berry, Wollongong, Coledale, and North Sydney and with the wonderful Wild Rumpus group I was invited to showcase my creations.
The Flying Pig Precinct in Berry featured my creations for four years, and Majacraft invited me to be a guest tutor at their annual Conference in New Zealand.
I was published by Ply magazine (an international Yarn Magazine) and my designs are featured on Ravelry (over 2 millions members world-wide) where one of my designs is still one of the top sock patterns knit by people all around the world. I also won the Dairing Art Yarns competition in 2014.
But – as is my want, last year 2016 I decided to start painting and sketching and stepped away from textiles. I’m sure I will go back – just not at the moment.
And so it’s watercolours – I’m mesmerised and enjoying the journey.
I’ll try and add all the wonderful links of the wonderful people I’ve met and the companies I have worked with over the years.
Thanks for coming along with me.
